I thought it would be fun (for me at least) to journal about my experiences with my RV, a 1984 Winnebago Itasco Sunflyer:

The rig fits (barely) at the side of the house, but is difficult to get out, once in. Only minor scrapes getting it out, but it'll stay out until I can get the gate widened.
I paid an RV place to get a lesson on how to use all the stuff involved (generator, electric, fresh grey and waste water, toilet, A/C, heat, etc.). Not sure it was worth what I paid for the lesson, but I'm more comfortable now than I was.
The unit is plugged into my house current now to charge the "house" batteries, which will run everything when the generator is off.
Apparently I need to get on the roof, remove the A/C cover and manually unfreeze the A/C fan. Great.
The first road trip is planned to start Thursday, a run up to Redding to check out their poker room, with stops as desired along the way. I'll return Sunday. This is about 450 miles round trip, which should be enough for me to discover the kinks.
I'm excited and scared at the same time. |
