Tooling south on I-5, the engine starts making odd noises so I pull off at the next exit. I take off the engine cover (inside the van) to find flames! I grab some of my stuff, put it outside, then search for the fire extinguisher without luck. When the smoke thickens, I depart - 2 minutes later comes the lead pic. Thankfully no fire or police personnel were harmed. I expect my insurance to cover my losses, but I think I'm done with RVing for a while.

I stop at another Indian casino on the way but no poker and lousy pay tables on the VP. When I come out the battery is dead. Then I remember the generator and it starts right up. I get to Redding and the Casino Club about 7. I play 4 handed holdem for about an hour (+73) then 5 handed Omaha for 1 hours more. I think I made good adjustments in the O/8 and won another $30.

I thought it would be fun (for me at least) to journal about my experiences with my RV, a 1984 Winnebago Itasco Sunflyer: The rig fits (barely) at the side of the house, but is difficult to get out, once in. Only minor scrapes getting it out, but it'll stay out until I can get the gate widened. I paid an RV place to get a lesson on how to use all the stuff involved (generator, electric, fresh grey and waste water, toilet, A/C, heat, etc.). Not sure it was worth what I paid for the lesson, but I'm more comfortable now than I was. The unit is plugged into my house current now to charge the "house" batteries, which will run everything when the generator is off. Apparently I need to get on the roof, remove the A/C cover and manually unfreeze the A/C fan. Great. The first road trip is planned to start Thursday, a run up to Redding to check out their poker room, with stops as desired along the way. I'll return Sunday. This is about 450 miles round trip, which should be enough for me to discover the kinks. I'm excited and scared at the same time.

My niece and her husband (he will be working at Faith Lutheran Junior Senior High, 2015 South Hualapai Way) are moving to LV. They would welcome suggestions on where to buy. They have 3 young children. C'mon lazyweb!

OK, so I see Sgt Rock has a blog on blogspot. I want to set up a syndicated feed to subscribe to it in LJ. I eventually find the place to set up the feed and I get a message that the feed already exists. How the F do I find the %$&^$ feed and sign up for it? I can't find a search tool anywhere in LJ. Help!

I used to be sort of handy around the house. In homes I've owned I've done some plumbing work and run a gas line. Also done a fair bit of electric and some basic carpentry. Over the years I've sort of lost the touch and the interest. Today for some reason I got motivated to replace some of the deck pieces that were rotted pretty badly. Amazingly I replaced all the damaged pieces and had everything finished and put away before the Tigers/Twins playoff game. Only one trip each to Home Depot (the wood and deck screws) and OSH (tools). I am now the proud owner of a tool I never heard of before today: a cat's claw.
